On August 21, 2020, the USAID Southern Africa Trade and Investment Hub visited projects of the Potato Lesotho Association (PLA). The purpose of the field trip was to establish investment opportunities for the USAID TradeHub to pursue. Five member projects were visited at Pena-Pena, Koro-Koro, Nelese, Makhoathi, and Sehlabeng. The PLA requires support with financing and certification for post-harvest handling and processing facilities for various fresh produce. The visits offered an opportunity to witness first-hand the association’s operations. This will enable the USAID TradeHub to provide more customized technical assistance, including to potential investors and capital providers in South Africa. The USAID TradeHub will issue a Needs Assessment tool to the individual member projects listed above and the PLA will provide the USAID TradeHub with a proposal of possible areas of support by September 8, 2020.
