On August 25, 2020, the USAID Southern Africa Trade and Investment Hub signed a partnership agreement with Eswatini-based Catalyze, a local economic development non-profit that works to improve access to funding for startups, helping to incubate and scale up their business initiatives. The trade promotion service provider (TPSP) has participated in recent USAID TradeHub webinars focused on promoting exports to South Africa and the United States from the Southern Africa region. To apply the lessons from those webinars at the country level, the USAID TradeHub partners with TPSPs like Catalyze to engage local firms, better understand their needs, and link them with specific prospective buyers in both destination markets. The activity aligns with the USAID TradeHub’s first and third objectives, which seek to boost Southern African exports to South Africa and, through the African Growth and Opportunity Act, to the United States.
