On May 14, 2020, the USAID TradeHub kicked off a three-week effort to gather data for a forthcoming toolkit aimed at assisting Southern African exporters to access the U.S. market. The inception meeting with USAID TradeHub staff was led by a U.S. customs law and African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) expert. The consultant will be meeting with the program’s in-country representatives and portfolio managers over the next week to survey the export competitiveness as well as existing knowledge and utilization of AGOA in USAID TradeHub focus countries. She will also engage with a sample of trade and investment promotion agencies, trade promotion service providers, business management organizations, and national AGOA steering committees in each country. Their feedback will inform the content of an AGOA toolkit as well a series of accompanying workshops to disseminate it. The USAID TradeHub has established an internal working group to support the consultant and to foster learning within the program. The assignment will be carried out virtually through July 31, 2020.
