The USAID TradeHub has engaged a U.S. customs lawyer to finalize a suite of resources aimed at assisting Southern African companies to access the U.S. market through the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). The toolkit will include a checklist allowing companies to assess their eligibility for duty-free treatment under AGOA as well as steps they can take to make their products available to U.S. consumers. The consultant, who has worked as a senior trade advisor at USAID, will also deliver training to a range of USAID TradeHub partners on the toolkit’s content, build the capacity of AGOA National Steering Committees in seven of the USAID TradeHub’s focus countries, and support a regional AGOA learning event. The assignment will be carried out virtually between May 4 and July 31, 2020.
