On April 3, 2020, the USAID TradeHub, in collaboration with the South African Consulate General in New York, coordinated a virtual meeting, via Skype, with a U.S. importer of food products. Red Oak provides import services, logistics management, and sales and marketing services. The discussion covered formalizing the relationship via a trade promotion service provider (TPSP) agreement, linkages with exporters from eight USAID TradeHub focus countries, and aligning expectations by mapping the scope of potential USAID TradeHub facilitation support. Key next steps from the discussion include hosting a webinar with regional exporters in April 2020 and conclusion of the TPSP agreement between Red Oak and the USAID TradeHub. With an eye to identifying potential southern African exporters, Red Oak will review a list of 40 firms that had applied to exhibit at the now-postponed 2020 Summer Fancy Food Show and select those firms that show the most promise for alternative marketing in the United States.
