The USAID TradeHub has issued a request for proposals from South Africa-based capital providers with an interest in financing small- and medium-sized enterprises in Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia. The call aims to fast-track short-term trade finance solutions for regional export firms as well as incentivize more equity and long-term debt investments in these firms. To ensure timely, relevant proposals, the USAID TradeHub held a webinar briefing for prospective bidders on March 23, 2020 with 21 financial service providers in attendance. Proposals are due by April 2, 2020, and awards will be issued to at least four financial service providers.
