January 6, 2020—The USAID Southern Africa Trade and Investment Hub has secured updated customs tariff information from the Zambia Revenue Authority. This is a notable milestone for the USAID TradeHub-supported Zambia Trade Information Portal (ZTIP), as the customs tariff is the “backbone” of the portal, used to identify products referenced in legal documents and their corresponding non-tariff measures and procedures. The new customs tariff information has since been forwarded to technical experts at the World Bank for uploading to the portal. A requirement of Zambia’s Trade Facilitation Agreement with the World Trade Organization, a beta version of the ZTIP site will be launched with USAID TradeHub support on February 19, 2020 in Lusaka.
