Gelvenor TextilesFor the first time since its inaugural show three years ago, Source Africa, the continent’s leading African textile, apparel and footwear trade show supported by USAID’s Southern Africa Trade Hub and scheduled for June 9-11, 2015, has completely sold out the exhibition space at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). With more than 200 exhibitors from over 18 countries prepared to attend the show this year, Source Africa continues to grow and build momentum as a premier sourcing platform.

In addition, the Southern Africa Trade Hub assisted in organizing a media roundtable at the Hamilton Hotel on May 25, 2015 in Johannesburg, South Africa to provide international and South African media with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with Source Africa and to access the organizers of the show (LTE) and a number of leading industry speakers. Representatives from print, TV, and radio media attended the roundtable, coming away with a better understanding of the significance of Source Africa and its impact on the region’s textiles and apparel sector.

Sefton Fripp, Marketing Director for Gelvenor Textiles (, spoke at the roundtable about the origins of Source Africa, its importance for Gelvenor’s business expansion, and why it is the best one-stop shop sourcing platform in Africa for apparel, textiles, and footwear. Gelvenor Textiles is based in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa and is a world leader in technically-engineered fabrics with a burgeoning export market to the United States, Europe, and sub-Saharan Africa.
